Angiography

Angiography

Angiography is an imaging test that uses X-rays to view your body’s blood vessels. The X-rays provided by an angiography are called angiograms. In this technique, the dye is injected into the chambers of your heart or arteries that lead to your heart (the coronary arteries). Doctors can then measure the blood flow and blood pressure in the heart chambers and see if the coronary arteries are blocked. During angiography, a special dye called a ‘contrast medium’ is injected through a fine tube or catheter into the artery of the groin or arm. An angiography procedure is generally a safe and painless procedure that can take about 30 minutes to two hours.
